Morgan State University is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. Our state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Assurance & Policy Center offers cybersecurity scholarship opportunities for students to develop expertise and engage in the development of cutting edge technology aimed to provide defense against threats to information systems and networks.

Currently, we seek applications for the National Science Foundation CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) Program and the Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship Program (CySP). CyberCorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS):

The Scholarship For Service (SFS) is a unique program designed to recruit and train the next generation of information technology professionals, industrial control system security professionals, and security managers to meet the needs of the cybersecurity mission for Federal, State, local, and tribal governments. This program provides cybersecurity scholarships for up to 3 years of support for cybersecurity undergraduate and graduate (MS or PhD) education. The scholarships are funded through grants awarded by the National Science Foundation. In return for their cybersecurity scholarships, recipients must agree to work after graduation for the U.S. Government, in a position related to cybersecurity, for a period equal to the length of the cybersecurity scholarship. Benefits include:

  • Full tuition and fees
  • Annual stipend
    • $27,000 for undergraduates
    • $37,000 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD)
  •  Reimbursement for professional development, travel expenses, etc. up to $6,000 per year
  • Scholarship Duration
    • Two academic years (four semesters) for students in bachelor and master level degree programs
    • Three academic years (six semesters) for students in PhD programs

Department of Defense Cyber Scholarship Program (DoD CySP):

The DoD CySP is both a scholarship program for the DoD and a capacity building tool for the nation. The DOD CySP program is designed to recruit the nation’s top cyber talent to the DoD as well as retain the current cyber workforce to help secure the nation against the threats of information systems and networks.
